Asset valuation and screening of investors

The situation:

Our client, a mid-sized firm specializing in bankruptcy cases, serves as the insolvency trustee for an East German software company. The software company’s product is good and its clients are reputable. Our client lacks the know-how to evaluate the market or the potential of the product. While financial data on the company exists, an analysis of its strengths and weaknesses is missing, which makes it impossible to assess the company’s potential. The insolvency trustee believes it is possible to save the company if investors would put up new capital.

Our services:

On behalf of the insolvency trustee and together with the management tivona partners conducted a SWOT analysis. We evaluated external opportunities and risks to identify market potential. As part of a workshop, tivona partners created a company profile that was used to approach potential investors or future strategic partners. Within a short period of time our team contacted a number of potential investors and reported their feedback to the insolvency trustee.

Benefits for the client:

The software company produces a solid, innovative product but it was unable to market it effectively. The market and competitors analysis made two things clear: in terms of price the software company competes with smaller companies and in terms of individual systems solutions it competes with large software and IT consulting firms. This combination makes it impossible for the company to do well. The company’s future depended on an investor, who would build on the innovative product, market the product differently and put up capital. tivona partners’ research established that the company is attractive for investors.
