The situation:

Our client, a DAX company, wanted to restructure the globally scattered IT department of one of the company’s division in order to minimize costs. The process would be complex and lengthy and, in addition, it would be difficult to anticipate future monthly budgets. Our client wants to be able to analyze the department’s costs accurately and reliably but lacks cost planning tools. Optimizing reporting structures would also have to be key.

tivona partners developed a multi-dimensional OLAP model to present potential cost savings visually. With the help of the data cube our team analyzed the department’s cost structures. The findings of any future analyses will be measured against a set of defined business criteria and entered into a database to control them.

Answers can be obtained fast and it is not necessary to program a database. Our client gained clarity about the department’s cost structures for the first time and, as a result, will be able to reduce IT costs in the double-digit million range.
